Special Courses

Course series "The Sea and its Resources"

The ZMT offers its partner institutes in the tropics specialised courses focusing on pressing environmental problems. The two-week training courses are available upon request and are adapted to the specific needs of each partner institute. They consist of lectures, laboratory and field work and are geared towards advanced students and young scientists. Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course.

Topics

  • Tropical coastal ecosystems
  • Availability and vulnerability of resources
  • Methods used in ecological research
  • Trophic and system modelling
  • Sustainable management of tropical coasts

Summer schools

An important accompanying measure of the ZMT's cooperation with foreign partners is the organisation of international summer school programmes in Germany and abroad. These programmes allow for the further advancement of students through exposure to current research topics, and are taught according to international standards. In addition, the courses allow lecturers the opportunity to identify topics for future joint research projects.
