Since 2005, scientists of the OUC, the Universities in Bremen and Kiel and their affiliated research institutions arrange two-week training courses with interdisciplinary lectures, practical work and field excursions. The summer schools are offered to students who are enrolled at one of the partner universities and have a background in marine sciences at the graduate or postgraduate level. The language of instruction is English. Participation is limited to 14 students from each country.

The Sino-German Summer School 2013 „Dynamics in Atmosphere and Ocean Coupling” is scheduled from 2 to 13 September 2013 at the Zhejiang University in Hangzhou as well as at the Ocean University of China in Qingdao.
