Teaching

Lectures at Bremen University

The ZMT offers several possibilities to students and young scientists from all over the world to receive training and education in "real world" problems.

The ZMT is integrated into the curricula of Faculty 2 (Biology and Chemistry) at Bremen University. The study program includes courses in the subjects of biogeochemistry, ecology, aquaculture, fisheries biology and socio-economics.

The ZMT is also instrumental in the coordination and instruction of several international study programs, including the Master of Science Program ISATEC (International Studies in Aquatic Tropical Ecology) and the Sino-German Master Program in marine sciences, whose degree is recognized by both countries.

Thesis supervision

Doctoral students, diploma students and MSc students are supervised by ZMT staff and its partners in the tropics. The centre is also a supporting institute in the Bremen International Graduate School "Global Change in the Marine Realm", which is an interdisciplinary doctoral program within the "Excellence Initiative" framework of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Further education opportunities

With the cooperation of its foreign partner countries, the ZMT also organises special courses, international summer schools and "on-the-job" training within the framework of shared research lines.
