Partners

In the 15 years since its founding, the ZMT has built a strong network of partners in Germany and abroad. Cooperation agreements exist between the ZMT and several research institutions in South America, Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. The institute is a focal point not only for scientists, but also for government agencies and companies to exchange

expert knowledge in the field of tropical marine ecology. The participation of ZMT employees in international organizations contributes to the integration of German marine tropical ecology research with international programmes and the development of common strategies.

  • Leibniz Association - WGL
    a community of over 80 non-university institutions conducting theme-oriented, interdisciplinary research or providing scientific infrastructure. Admission to the community is based on the social relevance of the research topics covered.
  • Leibniz-Network Biodiversity - LVB
    which combines the competences in biodiversity research of 23 Leibniz Institutes from the sections Environmental Research, Life Sciences as well as Economics, Social Sciences and Spatial Research and which makes research activities of the association visible to politics and the public. Interdisciplinary networking as well as the conceptual development of biodiversity research are further aims of the association.
  • German Marine Research Consortium - KDM
    a Germany-wide association of 14 research and university institutes involved in marine, polar, and coastal research activities.
  • Center for Marine Environmental Sciences - MARUM
    a network of institutions for marine research in the state of Bremen, which also includes the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research and the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology.
